How do I register for Beacon Hill Soccer?
Go to the Beacon Hill Youth Soccer website, and select the green Register button located on the top right corner of the Home page. This directs you to our registration app called Demosphere where you will create an account and register for the upcoming soccer season.How do I know if my registration went through?
Once you complete your online registration on Demosphere, our registrar will pick it up in a few days and assign your player to a team. Wait a week, then return to your online account and see if this has happened. Tip: Upload the Demosphere app to your phone. You can use it track everything going forward.How do I provide proof of age?
If it is the player's 1st time, you must prove age by pasting a photo of birth certificate or passport during your initial registration application. Proof of age is required for players 9 and older before the player can be assigned to a team.Is Financial Aid available?
Registration discounts are provided for players who cannot afford the standard fee. All players are welcome regardless of ability to pay. Request Financial Assistance when you reach the Payment page as you register. Your fee will be reduced to under $40. Families who are in financial hardship can request a full scholarship if necessary.How do I pick a team for my child?
You cannot select a team. After you register, the BHYS registrar balance teams to be sure that teams have the right number of players. You can make a Special Request during the registration process. We cannot promise your child will be placed on a certain team unless you are the coach.Will I play on the same team I played on last year?
All players must return to the same team they played on in the previous fall season. New players are assigned to teams with openings. Soring Soccer players return to their Fall teams.Where do I find my team information?
You can view your team roster and contacts online by loading the Demosphere app to your phone.When will my team practice?
Coaches decide when their team practices. Most teams practice once or twice a week. Communicate with your coach using your Demosphere app.Are players grouped by age?
Teams are sorted into age groups. A player’s age is determined by their age on July 31st. For example, if your child is 8 on July 31st, then your child plays on a Under 9 team which we call U9.Are players grouped by skill level?
No. Beacon Hill Youth Soccer is a recreational soccer club. Advanced players can try out for competitive soccer with Seattle United Soccer Club.Where will my team practice?
Practice location depends on field availability. Most U6 to U9 teams practice at Jefferson Park. U10 and up practice at various local playfields. Your coach will decide.Where is my game schedule?
In the Fall, Beacon Hill Youth Soccer teams have weekly games with teams from neighboring soccer clubs. Game schedules are released no later than Labor Day. Games start the following week. Most U7, U9, U11, and U13 games are on Saturdays. U6, U8, U10 and U12 games are on Sundays. Teams U14 and up often have evening games mid-week.What do players wear?
All players must have shin guards worn under their socks. All players should have water bottles. Team jerseys are loaned to players free by the club; jerseys must be returned at season end. Jackets may be worn under soccer jerseys. Players provide their own shorts and shoes; soccer shoes are useful, but not required. Baseball and football shoes have toe cleats; these shoes are not allowed.Do we play in the rain/smoke/heat?
Yes, unless there is lightning or heavy winds. Check the Weather Resources page for inclement weather rules.
Coaches & Volunteers
Do coaches need experience?
Not for younger ages. We provide coaching clinics; participation is optional. Many practice drills can be found on YouTube. The only requirement is to help kids have fun.How can I assist the coach?
All teams have a head coach. This coach need assistant coaches to help out during practices. Coaches need Team Managers to do all those things outside of coaching, such as distributing uniforms, coordinating game snacks, solving player transportation issues, coordinating team communication, and many other tasks, large and small, that would make the coach’s job easier.How do I get help with registration problems?

Balls, cones, jerseys, uniforms, and other supplies are provided by our equipment manager; Larry. Text or call 206-853-9935 with your request.What if other people are using the playfield reserved for my team?
Practice fields are often shared. Check the BHYS website Fields page for reservation documents. If someone is not authorized to use your field, tell them you have the playfield reserved. Take a screen shot of reservations at the beginning of the season. Field permits are located in the Coaches Corner of the BHYS website. Report problems to the BHYS Field Coordinator.Will my game have a referee?
U9 and younger teams have parents who referee. The home team provides the referee. Seattle Soccer Referee Association assigns referees for U10 and older games. If no referee has shown up, then talk to opposing coach about having parents do it.How do I find contact information for the opposing team?
Go to your schedule on Demosphere. Click on the team name and the contact information appears.Should snacks be provided for the team?
Most teams have parents that provide snacks, but you should worry about anaphylactic allergies and trash on the field. Slices of fruit is a better alternative.How long should halftime be?
Up to the coaches and the referee.Will there be anyone onsite from SYSA during games? In case we have questions?
No. Ask your club administrators for assistance.Where can I find the Rules of the Game?
Rules are found on the SYSAS website here. Scroll down to page 22 for a handy summary of the important rules for your age group. Rules are strictly followed in games U10 and up. U9 and younger games are more flexible. Coaches can agree in advance to modify them if desired.In the SYSA Rules & Regulations, it also mentions that coaches should supply 3 rosters to the referee at the start of the game. Is that true? And, that coaches should report the score/cards distributed to the scorekeeper. Is that true?
True for U10 and up. Not true for U9 and down.
Do we keep score?
Yes for U10 and older. Absolutely not for U9 and younger.
